Environmental Biotechnology Laboratory (EBL)

Various advanced facilities are being developed for this Environmental Biotechnology Laboratory of the Council. Presently, there are many advanced and sophisticated Instruments / equipment’s are established in this laboratory. This laboratory also provides analytical support to the other laboratories of the council. There is also an offer to upgrade it and develop it into a Referral Laboratory in the near future. Time to time, this laboratory also organizes workshop, training, popular lectures and other awareness activities related to water, soil and air quality under the skill development programs. At present, water and soil quality, related aspects and microbial diversity are being analysed.

Areas of Research / Training Program

  • Water quality evaluation with reference to microbial diversity
  • Physicochemical analysis of water using standard analytical methods
  • Identification and enumeration of various microbial communities
  • Characterization of microbes by various biochemical tests
  • Soil quality evaluation and monitoring through physicochemical analysis.
  • Molecular characterization of microorganisms using PCR-based techniques.
  • Metagenomic analysis of environmental samples.
  • Training programs on environmental biotechnology, molecular biology and microbiological techniques.
  • Hands-on training on environmental sample collection, laboratory analysis and quality assurance.
  • Workshops, awareness programs and capacity-building activities for students, researchers, farmers, educational institutions and government agencies.
